Trusting God Through Spiritual Opposition
Have you ever felt like just when you step out in faith, things seem to push back against you? You’re not alone. The Bible is full of stories where men and women faced resistance right after following God’s lead. It’s in those moments of challenge that we are reminded: when we are on the right path, spiritual forces will sometimes rise against us, but God is always greater.
Stepping out to share your message, speak truth, or serve in God’s kingdom can invite opposition. It’s not because you’re doing something wrong, but often because you’re doing something right. The Bible says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). This passage reminds us that the battle we face is often spiritual, not physical.
When we feel this resistance, it’s easy to question ourselves. “Am I doing the right thing?” “Is God really calling me to this?” “Why do I feel so opposed?” But take heart, for Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). This is your reminder that God has already overcome anything that could come against you.
So what should you do when you feel like spiritual powers are pushing back? Stand firm. Prayer is your greatest weapon. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Remember, resistance doesn’t mean you’re defeated. It’s a sign that something important is at stake. Keep trusting, keep pressing forward, and surround yourself with prayer. When you face spiritual challenges, God is right there with you, offering His strength, peace, and guidance. As Romans 8:31 declares, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
No matter what comes against you, know this: God’s plans will prevail, and His protection surrounds you. You are never alone, and the power that lives in you is greater than anything in this world.
